stressIf you are over 40 and are feeling depressed, irritable and unattractive then you may be going through the male menopause.

There is a lot of discussion about whether the male menopause actually exists but there is increasing evidence to support the theory.

When women go through the menopause it is caused by a radical change in the hormones within the body, however, male hormones remain more or less constant during a mans lifetime. It is known that some men do however suffer a drop in testosterone levels which can leave them feeling depressed, lethargic and moody. It is now thought that these people are the ones prone to suffering what is now being termed the male menopause.

If your current situation is caused by a drop in testosterone then Hormone Replacement Therapy or HRT could certainly help, speak with your doctor about it.

We tend to call the period of a mans life where he is reaching middle aged and feeling unsure as a ‘midlife crisis’, it seems that we may now know the reason behind this pattern of behavior and may be able to prevent it.
